summer camp poster 2014Cost to attend camp is $650/student which includes camp gear, 4 overnight stays, three meals/day, and two snack breaks/day.

Camp will be held in the Educational Training Center (ETC), located at the corner of San Jacinto and Dean Keaton (204 E. Dean Deeton St., Austin, TX 78712). Students will stay overnight at Jester Hall during camp from Monday -Thursday each week with the camp concluding by 6pm Friday after a family celebration.

Typical Day for Summer Camp:

Campers are awoken by counselors. Everyone eats breakfast as a group and then walks to the Mechanical Engineering Building (same building as the ETC) together led by camp staff and teachers. All campers spend mornings in small work groups leading up to programming and building robots as the day progresses. All campers are escorted by counselors back to Jester Hall for lunch. The afternoon is spent doing curriculum-based activities and building outdoor environments for the robots to explore. Next, all campers have early evening recreation time. Students are allowed to choose from a list of supervised activities (such as viewing educational films, low ropes challenges led by UT Exercise Sports Science students, and TX Union Underground arcade and bowling; campers interested in the TX Union Underground should bring cash--admission is approximately $8 for bowling and billiards; the arcade is coin-operated). Campers eat dinner in Jester Hall as a group. Evening recreation is always a camp-wide activity such as a scavenger hunt or observatory visit. Past activities have included movie night, game night, or attending a UT event. After evening recreation, campers go back to Jester for a floor meeting and time to shower, call home, and go to sleep.
